dorky is as dorky does

A message from your creative angels

Posted by: susanita on: January 9, 2009

My first shiny entry to Sunday Postcard Art is dedicated to my good friend and fellow dorky partner in crime, Leeka.  Have an awesome creative year, my friend.

Details: This is a vintage image printed on drawing paper.  It is colored with acrylics and colored pencils with just a bit of gel pen.  I then scanned the image and added a border.   The postcard is slightly more purple than the scan would indicate.

Good Intentions

So I actually finished my postcard last night.  I think its finished, anyway.  I’m never exactly sure.  Sometimes things that look amazing at 2:30 AM look pretty gross in the morning.   I have some time to think about it because I’m waiting for my friend to meet me at a coffeeshop (with wi-fi, score!), but when he’s getting here, I don’t really know.

So I will sit here and think about my postcard, and if it’s done, and not think about the delicious smells wafting about.

I’m HUNGRY! :-)

Edited: because grammar counts.

Happy New Year

Posted by: susanita on: January 8, 2009

I don’t really make New Year’s resolutions.  I mean, I have goals and stuff, but I hate to formalize them.  Probably because it’s easier to break them, if I don’t make a big to-do about them to begin with.   So one of my goals this year is to participate in art challenges.  Sunday Postcard Art and Mixed Media Mondays are the ones that I’m most familiar with.  I’ve been lurking at those sites for a few months, and since it’s a new year, I’ve decided to start a new blog and jump in.

Sadly my enthusiasm has outrun my ability to get everything sorted out at once.  I’ve already procured a blog host, and I’ve got my WordPress all uploaded and whatnot, but I cannot for the life of me decide on a theme.   Just too many choices, and I’m not positive of what I want in a layout.

I didn’t want to miss out on Sunday Postcard, because my goal is to participate all year, so I have to get the darn thing posted.  That’s what led me here. I’ve had wordpress.com blogs before and I like them.  They are a little limited, but overall, not much to complain about.   No way am I going back to Blogger. Just too many bad memories there.

So hopefully, in the next little bit, I will be trying to suck back my anxiety, and participate in the Sunday Postcard Art challenge.

Unless, I punk out. :-P

home away from home

This is a place to park my stuff, while I finish developing my own blog.

You are The Star

Hope, expectation, Bright promises.

The Star is one of the great cards of faith, dreams realised

The Star is a card that looks to the future. It does not predict any immediate or powerful change, but it does predict hope and healing. This card suggests clarity of vision, spiritual insight. And, most importantly, that unexpected help will be coming, with water to quench your thirst, with a guiding light to the future. They might say you're a dreamer, but you're not the only one.
